We surveyed a diverse group of 211 Nurses, broken down between Specialty Nurses (100) and General Nurses (111). Their experiences provide valuable insights to improve the working environment for Agency Nurses, ultimately benefiting patient care.

A Deep-Rooted Passion for Nursing: Nearly half of the Nurses surveyed entered the profession driven by a desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. This highlights the inherent compassion that motivates many Nurses.
Flexibility Reigns Supreme: A significant portion (36%) of Agency Nurses prioritise flexibility in their work schedule. This suggests a desire for work-life balance and control for personal lives.
First Shifts: A Spectrum of Emotions: The first agency shift can be a rollercoaster. While some Nurses described it as “daunting,” others found it “rewarding.”
Seeking New Experiences: Many Nurses (31%) are drawn to agency work for the opportunity to explore different healthcare settings and specialties. This highlights a thirst for variety and ongoing learning.
Balancing Act: Maintaining work-life balance is a constant struggle for Agency Nurses. Finding time for hobbies and managing the impact on family and friends are significant challenges.
