Nurse Practitioner – Dermatology

We have a new opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner – Dermatology in Bournemouth.

Here are the key details to consider for this role:

  • Contract: 3 – 6 Month Contract
  • Shift: Full-Time
  • Days of Shift: Monday to Friday
  • Pay Rate: Up to £31 per hour

Duties:

  • Clinical service delivery and caseload/pathway management for Dermatology patients including consultation and minor operative procedures.
  • Dermatology cancer surveillance pathways supporting urgent cancer referrals and ongoing cancer surveillance.
  • Physical assessment and initial treatments/ onward referrals
  • Liaison with multidisciplinary team
  • The postholder has responsibility and accountability for the safe and effective delivery of clinical services within the designated area of responsibility/caseload.  They will act as lead specialist for a defined area.
  • The post holder will be able to assess and interpret the complex needs of patients/clients and provide specialist care, advice or guidance.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the provision and management of the service/specialty ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered and supported by a robust clinical governance framework.
  • The post holder will contribute to the strategic and operational management of the specialty in collaboration with other members of the team to ensure that National, Regional, Trust and Divisional objectives are met.
  • The postholder will contribute to the Clinical Quality Improvement strategy within the Trust.
  • The postholder will provide specialist supervision, education and training to staff, students or patients and contribute to/undertake audit and research pathways relevant to role.
  • The postholder will contribute to the effective management of resources
  • Responsibility and accountability for the safe and effective delivery of clinical services within the designated area of responsibility/caseload.  They will act as lead specialist for a defined area.
  • Able to assess and interpret the complex needs of patients/clients and provide specialist care, advice or guidance and develop specialised programmes of care.
  • Responsible for the provision and management of the service/specialty ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered and supported by a robust clinical governance framework.
  • Able to manage own workload and prioritise appropriately.
  • Run nurse led clinical activity within Dermatology.
  • This will include minor operative clinics, as well as:
  • Clinics in wound care management for post operative and vascular /dermatology needs.
  • Melanoma management clinics.
  • Long term skin disease management clinic.
  • Inclusion in the skin cancer multi-disciplinary meeting.
  • To perform skin surgery including some higher risk, more invasive skin surgery procedures.
  • The postholder will be required to work under a patient group direction (PGD) when performing skin surgery.
  • Able to plan specialised clinical services and/or health and education programmes coordinating multi-disciplinary groups in specialist area.
  • Undertake specialised training and responsibility to maintain professional and clinical expertise.
  • Develop protocols for specialist area and recognise the impact on other disciplines/services.
  • Able to communicate sensitive and complex condition related information to patients/carers/relatives with empathy and reassurance.

Experience:

  • Registered Nurse/Professional and hold active registration with relevant Professional body
  • Degree level qualification relevant to role
  • Post Graduate qualification at Masters level relevant to role to demonstrate specialist clinical and leadership skills
